Sugar dating in Australian cities
Six cities, one platform, and two samples we counted ourselves. In the profiles SugarDaddyMeet's gallery served our Australian account, Sydney produced the most men's town labels and Melbourne the most women's, Queensland led both counts by state, and the Gold Coast's men were the oldest of any city at a median of 36. This page puts the six side by side, then stays honest about the four smaller pools we cannot write up yet.
Want the national numbers first? Our Australia-wide count has the method and every table.

Which Australian city has the most members?
Sydney for men, Melbourne for women, on the only per-city numbers anyone outside the company has published: our own. SugarDaddyMeet releases no member counts by city, so every league table you have seen elsewhere is assembled from guesses. What we can put side by side is what the gallery served one Australia-registered account over two days in September 2026.
On 20 September 2026 we filtered the gallery to women across Australia and counted the first 237 cards it served. On 21 September 2026 we did the same for men, and the feed ran out at 218. The table keeps each town label exactly as the card printed it, so a card reading Toorak counts nowhere except toward its state. The default order favours members who are online or recently were, which is worth remembering before you read too much into any ranking, ours included.
What does Sydney's pool look like?
The biggest of the six for men, and a close second for women. 33 of the 218 men's profiles carried the Sydney label, with a median age of 27 and 19 marked open to travel. On the women's side, 22 of 237 carried it, behind only Melbourne.
Widen out to New South Wales and the state carried 55 women, median 26, and 63 men, more than any other state bar Queensland on the men's side. The working crowd splits between the city and Barangaroo, the Eastern Suburbs and the North Shore, and the city's first-date venues price accordingly, from a CBD coffee to a Rose Bay dinner.

How big is Melbourne's pool?
The biggest of the six for women, and the only city to finish ahead of Sydney in either count. 24 of the 237 women's profiles carried the Melbourne label, median age 25, and 17 of those 24 were open to travel. The men's count gave Melbourne 26 profiles, second behind Sydney.
Victoria as a whole carried 59 women and 44 men. The city's money clusters around Collins Street and the legal precinct, with South Yarra and Toorak on one side and the Fitzroy and Brunswick creative end on the other.
Is Brisbane's scene really that young?
On the women's side, yes: Brisbane's 13 profiles had a median age of 22, the youngest of the six cities. The 20 men skewed older than the national median at 28.5, and not one of them carried a Premium badge on the day, something only the Gold Coast shares among the six.
Queensland is the real story. Once Brisbane joins the Gold Coast and the regional labels, the state led both of our samples outright, 68 women and 68 men, ahead of New South Wales and Victoria. After-work life concentrates around the CBD, James Street and South Bank.

Are there older men on the Gold Coast?
Yes, proportionally the oldest group in the country: the Gold Coast's 11 men's profiles had a median age of 36, 9 years above Sydney's and well clear of every other city. Like Brisbane, none of its men carried a Premium badge when we counted.
The women's side is thinner on paper. 8 profiles sat across the wider Gold Coast area once suburb labels merge, with no single town label reaching ten, which is why the table reads under 10. The coast runs on tourism and hospitality money, and for practical purposes it functions as one pool with Brisbane, so the sensible move is a distance filter that catches both.
How small is Adelaide's pool?
The smallest of the six in both counts, and it is better to say that plainly. Adelaide carried 10 women's profiles, median age 23, and 12 men's, median 26.5. South Australia as a whole held 14 women and 14 men in our samples.
Small changes the tactics, not the possibility. 6 of Adelaide's 10 women were open to travel, Melbourne is the nearest big pool, and a Premium badge matters more here than anywhere because so few profiles carry one: 3 of the 12 men did, a higher share than Sydney managed. Check the online marker, widen the distance and give the search a few weeks rather than a few days.
Who is on in Perth?
More women than anywhere except the two big eastern capitals: 20 profiles, median age 25.5, third of the six cities. The men's group of 16 had a median age of 30.5, the oldest of any mainland capital in the count, and 3 carried a Premium badge.
The standout figure is mobility. 15 of Perth's 20 women, 75%, said they were open to travel, and at state level Western Australia's 26 of 33 was the highest share in the country. Perth runs on fly-in fly-out rosters and resources money; a sample that says it will travel is exactly what that economy looks like in dating form.
What about Canberra, Hobart, Newcastle and Darwin?
None of the four has a full page yet, because we only publish a city guide when the sample and the venue checks can carry one. This is the honest small-pool picture from the same two counts, current as of September 2026.
- Canberra3 women's profiles across the Australian Capital Territory, 1 of them in Canberra itself, and no Canberra card in the first 218 of the men's feed. A public-sector city with a quiet pool; widen the filter toward Sydney when it feels thin.
- Hobart4 women and 5 men across Tasmania, with 3 of the women in and around Hobart. The smallest state pool we counted, so the distance filter and the travel flag do the heavy lifting.
- NewcastleNever surfaced as its own town label in either count; New South Wales profiles concentrate on Sydney. Newcastle sits within a realistic distance of that pool, so a wide filter is the practical answer.
- Darwin1 woman's profile across the whole Northern Territory in the women's count and none in the first 218 of the men's. If Darwin is home, plan on travel being part of any match you make.
How should you search by city?
With the distance filter, the age filter and the online marker, in that order. The default feed is built to look busy, not to be representative of your city.
- Set the distance filter before anything else. A free account can filter by gender, age range and location, so casting a wider circle costs nothing. In the smaller cities, widen it until a neighbouring capital sits inside; 69% of the women and 54% of the men in our counts said they were open to travel.
- Expect a young default feed. The median man in the default view was 27, and 139 of the 218 profiles were under 30. Older members are on the platform, but you reach them with the age filter, not by scrolling and hoping.
- Trust the online marker over the headline count. When we filtered men to ages 45 to 99, the gallery kept serving new cards past 399 before we stopped, yet only 33 of those carried an online or recently-online marker. A pool that looks deep on paper can be quiet in practice.
- Note who holds a Premium badge. Starting a conversation takes a Premium membership, and in our count the badges sat in Sydney and Melbourne while Brisbane and the Gold Coast showed none. What Premium costs is on the cost page.
- Read the town label, not just the city you searched. A card can carry a suburb you have never heard of. Our table counts labels exactly as printed, and your match may live one suburb over from where you assumed.
Whatever the city, nobody can tell you the going allowance, because no reliable public Australian figure exists; the platform's own pages name none, and the numbers circulating on marketing blogs quote no source. The one cost you can verify to the cent is membership, covered on our cost page. For scale, the ABS put full-time adult average weekly earnings at A$2,083.70 in May 2026.
